April Review 09

April 09 40k hands/ $703 profit/ 11,500 fpp's
-
A lot happened this month, made platinum star the last day of last month. I didn't make it this month, But that's OK. I did manage to pull my game up a little bit running in the month at +3.3/100 BB/100 at NL25 over 40,000 hands. I managed to bring my stats from %14 vpip and %5 pfr w/ %10 steal pct. To %13 vpip and %9 pfr w/ %25 steal. I had my first two sessions with Nick Phillips. Got hooked up with Camtasia. And realized some important steps to help my game. Not only realizing them but focusing on fixing them.
-
Things partially fixed this month was increasing my steal %. And not being afraid to C-bet the shit out of every flop and give up when meeting resistance. "Stealing the blinds like its my job". Was the best quote I heard that when I put in that frame of mind made it easier to attempt. A big relief was finally proving that I could win at NL25 consistently. I know 40K hands is not considered a good enough amount to prove. A good amount being around the 100K range. Which if I set up a good routine this next month is a possible goal. In order to achieve platinum star again next month I think at this level. I would need to play 75K hands.
-
Goals for this next month:
1: Continue increasing my pre-flop-raise percentage bringing my stats to more of a 15/12/3 w/%70 C-bet.
2: Increase my steal percentage to at least %35-%40
3: Work on increasing my 3-Bet stat based off my opponents stats.
4: Work on more check raises of my opponents C-Bets
5: Prove that April was not a fluke and my game has evolved to this point
6: Work on raise sizes based of opponents ex. short stacker's
7: Playing against short stacker's better
8: Increase my BB/100 to +4/100 or better.
-
I think I need at the very least two more months at nl25 to help solidify my game. And then possibly another month to help focusing on attaining maximum value through some deeper multi level thinking. I will probably be making another appointment or two w/ Nick Phillips after I focus on my game a little more.

Its good to be a gansta!

And it feels good to be on a little heater as well. Or is it? I have a new game plan which should have been my game plan for a while now. Instead I have been relentlessly trying to ram a circle shape into a square opening for some time now. My new game plan should have been and is. Start fresh and play, evaluate, adjust, start over, repeat. I was doing this originally but started to lose focus on the prize as I was winning and stopped adjusting and evaluating. How many times do I see the holes but don't focus on fixing them? Obviously a lot more than I think. One of my main holes I am still working on is raising every pot I'm in. And depending on opponents and flop texture C-betting but keeping my C-bets smaller rather and three barrelling all in. Another big one which has had a strong hold on my emotional aspect of my game is lack of sleep. It makes me sick thinking about the money I have lost looking back making poor choices based of a lack of sleep. Its OK to go to sleep and come back tomorrow. I fall victim of playing as long as I can on weekend nights. Waiting all week to play and then only getting to play 11pm and later doesn't make for good results when I am used to being asleep by 9:30pm. Anyways I'm sure my heater will hit the law of motion for the weekend. But anyways I'll just be OK for the moment.

March 09

Wow march is done and all that I can say is hmmm...... Had a kid, built a kick ass poker table. Scaled back to Eight tables and began doing well at nl25. It helped a little bit playing at nl5 6 max which let me practice loosening up a little bit which is something I really need to work on. Bringing my pfr% up still. This month I seemed to be doing well. I also took a couple shots at nl50 and was up 4-5 buy in's before I started to run below ev. Which in turn started effecting my play. Which with the addition to a couple cooler sessions basically cost me all my hard earned profit for the month. It didn't help that I moved up and ran into a couple coolers. Also for the first time with only playing a little bit a day and without playing for a full week out of the month. Was able to make Platinum star level on stars... Wee.... um OK. I cleared my reload bonus as well as 3 cash back reward bonuses. And if it wouldn't have been for those. There probably wouldn't have been any profit and no point playing all month. I also had my first sweat session and have also signed up for some coaching with a card runner pro. Hopefully this will help my game leaps and bounds.

This months goals will be to stay solid. Stop playing when I get tired. Stay with 8-12 tables. Try to consistently reach a 14/12/3 stats with a %30 steal. I think If I try to stay with this, work on my C-Betting and not trying to bluff period. And be able to keep making big folds and not let a couple luck sacks get the best of me. That I should have a pretty strong month.
