CHRISTMAS WEEK 08

Merry Christmas!
-
24,000ish hands/ $186 profit/ 2,182 FPP'S
-
Christmas time has come and gone. Still didn't get to crank out very many hands this week. The bankroll continues to grow. And so does the shot taking. As far as my play has been going. I am still working on bringing down my vpip and upping my pfr% numbers. But have basically gone from being a fish to a nit. Really trying to focus on raising based off position and hand strength. Which will lead to raising based off of opponents already in or left to act in the hand. It will be a slow progress. I think once I get a little more comfortable with this I can start opening up my pfr% numbers to bring myself up into a little more tagish range. Also something lacking is my 3-bet range which is mainly QQ, KK, AA, and sometime JJ opponent dependant. These are some of the immediate holes in my game, as far as full ring is concerned.
-
I do think that an accurate rating of my own playing ability which is based off other players in the "Nano" stakes level. Which is the levels nl2, nl5, and n10. Based off a scale of -10 to 10, is right around the level +1. I hope to be able to re-evaluate my own play a little farther in the future once I am able to focus on moving to tag land and upping my 3bet and 4 bet numbers. I think my road is to continue to play at nl5 and take shots at nl10 and nl25 as my bankroll continues to grow until I get a good control over my game.

3rd week dec

BOOOOOOO!
-
17,300ish hands/ $98 profit/ 857 FPP'S
-
Didn't get to play much this week due to working. Played at nl50 and nl25 for a few hands. Mainly just to help push my reward bonuses over. Next week will be a short week at work because of Christmas so I should be able to rope in a 20-30k hand week. As well as the following week. I still need to stick with my current level until I hash out some vpip and fpr% problems to help shore up my game a little more. Plus help build my bankroll a little more. There is a live game I have been playing at micro stakes home game. I can only imagine that the play there was possibly close to the resemblance of how the quality of play must have been on the Internet around 2003. I am up like $600 in the last 5 sessions there which is including one losing session. Which isn't bad for a nl50 cash game. If only they played higher stakes :), and more often.
-
Next week will be more grinding at nl5. I just need to stick with this level for a little while longer. I already have 260 full buy In's at that level. But my play is still very fishy and need to iron out some bad folding I think I have been doing lately.

Dec, week 2, 08

-
Fire!, Reload, Fire!, Reload, Fire!, Reload Reload
-
43,000ish hands/ $69 profit/ 1,494 FPP'S
-
Took a couple more shots this week got to play a shitload of hands being out of work. I am already over 100,000 hands in three weeks. Probably without taking shots this week I think I would be up another $100. Cashed in on a cash back reward bonus, which is close to the only reason I was in the green this week. Have been chatting with another .02-.05 reg who has been helping evaluate my game. Don't want to post his name without permission. But thanks. With his suggestions I have renewed my drive to fix my fish stats. Maybe this is the reason why I have not been able to post a win other than at nl200. I think I will spend some more time at the current nano stake level nl5. I think this will give me more time to bolster my pfr% based off position. Which I hope is a big reason why I haven't won at the higher stakes. Also I would rather have a little more roll to back me before I move up. That way I have a little more cushion to absorb maybe an easy ten buy in downswing at the new stake. And not get devastated as it would easily equal to 25 buy in downswing at the previous level. I know this shouldn't bother me but what I see when I lose this is how long grinding at nl5 it takes to get this back.
-
I will be going back to work next week. So my number of hands will be way lower. I don't know whether or not I will make my next cash back reward or not as I am 300 fpp's shy of cashing in and starting to redeem it.
-
Things I have gotten from last week. I need to spend more time tweaking my game. I need to stick with nl5 for a while longer maybe even until I get my roll up to $1,500 or more. I think tweaking my vpip/pfr stats will take a little while and might have to adjust my post flop ag and other stats a little. I can only think this will be for the better for all aspects of my game.
-
Onwards to next week.

Dec, week 1, 08

-
"I am my own worst enemy"
-
35,000ish hands/ $89 profit/ 1,189 FPP's
-
Well took a couple shots, played a couple tournaments, and even played a couple hundred hands of PLO micro stakes. Since I only had one week during the last month my status was reverted back to bronze level. Meaning the fpp's will be minimal until I make it back to silver status. This won't be very hard considering that I am already %82 there in the first week. With the help of some shot taking at different stakes. I did play in some small stakes live "friendly" .25-.50 cash games and was up $400+. This kind of helped give me a break from some bad luck I could not shake free from.
-
The first part of this week I was actually for the first time doing so or being really aware of the fact that I was playing fairly bad. It didn't help that I was running with the doom switch on as well. "The cost of poker" as I would like to call it was outrunning the "Winning of poker". I couldn't seem to dodge some pretty horrific play as well as a lot of bad luck. Twice this week my aces lost all in pre flop to another pair of aces? I guess I have not been getting set over set at my usual rate of once every 3,500 hands to this along with a horrendous amount of retarded beats took there place. Through my tilting I began shoving with the nuts rather than betting for value. This only seemed to obviously lessen my winning and also when I got called only ended in me getting drawn out on for some bigger stacks losses. Regardless of what stupid garbage they had. I had to end a few sessions almost immediately as I was starting to become tilted to the point that it was effecting my play. I ended up taking a shot way above my bankroll. Another big no no and was rewarded with my bad decision making with a few good hands that put me in the positive for the week. Hence the vertical line in this weeks graph. I lost about $120 taking shots between nl 10 (.05-.10) and nl 25 .10-.25. Looking back about $50ish was due to bad decision making but the rest was bad luck and the "Cost of poker". The rest of the profit was made through grinding it out and a little from PLO, Pot Limit Omaha. Which was a nice change of pace after a rough week.
-
"Cost of poker"= Seems to me to be the ongoing amount of money you lose in between wins.
-
If you play correct poker without a winning hand. You will continue to lose money. Whether it is being lost to blinds, set mining, raising to build a bigger pot while winning, or making correct folds, big or small. All these things as well as many more cost money. These situations far outnumber the other end of the spectrum which is winning a hand. As your money continues to fall through correct play I call this the "Cost of poker".
-
So onto next week I will try and be a little more care full to notice my tilting or bad decision making. And trying to extract a little more value out of my good hands. Being a little more patient and being content with grinding it out at .02-.05.

1st week back

-
34,723 hands/ $94 profit/ 700 ish FPP's
-
Well my first week back to playing poker is under the belt. I had the whole week off of work but didn't seem to manage to bulldozer the poker in there. It was actually a little hard to just jump back into the 1,000 hands an hour plus range. Found myself looking toward the end of my sessions a couple times. And there were a few days (The most profitable to play online) that I didn't play online. Friday night I went out to play live in a lady's garage for some $1-$2 action. Saturday I spent mostly with the wife. And Saturday night most of Sunday day I was working on my newest poker table. This one will be the fourth one I have built and will hopefully be the nicest. I was thinking that as long as I am not working I might as well start up the Friday night game I used to have. Got the bankroll back over the $1,000 mark and plan to make the steady climb for a while in .02-.05. Then maybe making the jump up to nl10 once I get a little more of a buffer. Or just jump to nl25 I haven't decided yet.
-
As far as the week in play went. I decided to continue playing at .02-.05 for a while longer. Maybe I will stay here for another month or so and see how it goes. All my hands on Hold em Manager seemed to contain some kind of error so I had to start over. And I am not quite sure it is working right still. I played pretty well for the first part of the week. And then for some reason Friday and Today's session I started playing really poorly and found myself forcing the session to end. Might I add that I was running pretty bad also. And was getting a little frustrated. I think this altered my performance a little and was dropping my play to my C game level and lower. My sessions near the end of the week were becoming pretty brutal to my Psyche. In the last two hours of the last session alone the following hands occurred.
-
AA lost to KK preflop
AA lost to JJ preflop
AA hit set on flop and called all in against AQ which ran runner runner for flush
Set of 8's called all in on flop lost to two outer on turn
KK called all in on flop lost to 3 outer on river
set over set
set over set
boat over boat
nut boat loosing to quads
2nd nut flush lost to nut flush
-
After a couple sessions like this was cracking my head. Normally this shit doesn't bother me but I guess the 5-6 weeks I have had off from poker lowered my defenses a little. Hence the extra time spend building a new poker table. I did already have the material ordered though so this would have had to happen sooner or later.

Returneth!

Well my job is over out of town so maybe I will be able to play a little poker once more. Only got to play a micro amount with no real record of my results. But when I came back and tried to play a little today my hold em manager was not working correctly so it looks like I will have to keep track manually again of my results. Hopefully the break was good for me basically no poker and a lot of down time watching the history channel. I did catch most of the WSOP main event final table. And I did get to read a couple books. I also decided to try out some of the other games, the first being 7 card stud. And then moving on to PLO or maybe the other way around. Ordered several new books to read. And unless A few more have to have books come out I am well stocked up and should set aside some time for book reading each day.
-
Also have ordered some custom felt and material for a new table. I think I will have to start up the game again. One of the local rooms has cut back on there open day. So maybe I will have to pick up some of the slack. Hopefully this table will work out. I am really going to try and make this one deluxe. Dealer spot with rack, multiple drop boxes and possibly some led rail lighting. I will not be getting much of the material for another week but so far has cos ted double what the other ones have been and have not bough ten the wood yet for it.
-
I think that I will just grind out at .02-.05 for another 100k hands or so maybe even longer. I might stay there until I grind my roll up to 2k. Then move up to .05-.10 for a while. I played a few hands at nl25 but just basically slowly lost money. But then again I only played a couple thousand hands over the last month and a half on Sundays. Edit/ Hold em Manager seems to be working again but has needed to create a new database so I have no previous information?.
-
So maybe it would be a good thing to knock out another 100K hands at .02-.05 to get a fresh start. But this time having a bankroll of around a Grand. I will go in tommorrow to sign up on the out of work list and pick up my last paycheck. Maybe I will be laid off for a while to allow me to put in some serious poker.

No poker!

Been three weeks and no poker hmmm.......

The only thing I get to look forward to is the history channel when I come home from work. There will be the final table of the main event coming up on the 11th which I will be watching. I guess there is one live game around where I work but I don't feel much like playing after work. I have been getting over a cold for the last two weeks. This is a good time for me to catch up on some reading but is hard to motivate myself sometimes to read as much as I used to.

Gone

Hmmm.....

Last monday on the 13th I got a call from my hall. I will be working in greely for the next month or so. Took my laptop down there but there internet connection is completely fucking retarded. I log in for 3 seconds and then the internet times out and I disconnect for 30 seconds repeat. Anyways am back today for a day. Might go play some live poker but looks like a good time to catch up on some of the books I need to read or reread. So no poker maybe it will be a good break.

2nd week oct 08

-
30,400 hands/ $63 profit/ 2722 FPP's
-

-
"May the upside of variance be with you, always...."
-
Don't know what to say really this week. I made my 100 buy in mark to start playing at nl10. I took a shot found out the players there were ten times worse than the previous level. It was mind blowing to say the least. Maybe it was just the adjustment to 100 big blinds. Or maybe it was the play was really worse. I had a seven buy in downswing which was not really that bad. But the hands I lost were retarded. So I broke rank again and played nl25 for a few thousand hands. Overall I was up marginal at this level. But managed to blow out a ton of fpp's and could easily be standing in gold level of the vip club. I could also see hitting one cash back bonus a week. But it is unknown at this time if I could remain winning at this level. The only reason saying this is I was not playing my A game this week when taking a shot at this level. I was a bit tilty and probably could have avoided some losses. I don't know why it urks me to watch some people do the stupidest shit and get paid for it. Calling %60 plus size raises of there stack out of position when you know you are beat. I also lost a crap load of coin tosses to short stacks. A3o just never looked so good to call an all in pref lop with????
-
Anyways I feel a little lost this week. I am up for the week but I still feel like a loser for some reason. I took several shots. I also four tabled nl200 for a few hands. Which is were the large spike in my weekly graph is all about.
-
I am not sure what I will be doing this next week. I might play the rest of this week at nl25 to see how I do. After that I will probably drop back down to nl10 and play there until I build my roll back up.

HOLY FUCKING FUCKITY FUCK!

What we have here is a 1500 bb heater that I got on today. Don't know if someone at pokerstars read my post in the 2+2 forum about getting set over setted 28 times in 5 weeks or not. But today I had a couple really good hands. But for some reason the players were the worse I had seen in a while. Don't know if the government employee's got there paychecks today or what. It didn't hurt that I got paid off when a couple over pairs wouldn't fold when I raised them flopping trips. Usually this doesn't happen as most players even at this level can fold an over pair to a raise. Today I made the best of my value bets even though I still messed up in a couple places. I was well above my stop point today early on but the cards just kept coming so I broke the rule and didn't quit. I got $3 shy of my 100 full buy in mark and then lost $5 so I quit. Just as quick as they were coming the cards stopped. Like someone turning the lights on at the end of the night at a strip club after your buzz has wore off. Anyway this goes down as the biggest single session win that I have had at .02-.05. This could be partially to the super long drawn out break even stretch I had for 20,000 hands last week. But all this really means is that the counter action is going to be a biatch!.
-
But back to set over set situations.
-
Although a few books have stated set over set situations are much like full house over full house situations. "if it happens its just not your day and put your money in". I think some of these statements must be in general and was wondering the amount of times you are in a set over set situation that you fold?
-
I seem to be running into a set over set situation at least 1-3 time a session or every other session. So much to the point that in some instances that I am %90 sure I am in the situation. I play the player off and think I should be able to fold these. I have never breached the three mark in a sessions but I cannot shake these situation. Which brings me to my next question.
-
Should I not be playing small pocket pairs as much as I do? Whenever I am getting usually 8-1 from a players bet vs there stack size I will go ahead and set mine. I know Harrington has a number from Harrington on cash somewhere in the 20-1 range. Could this be the problem and a big leak in my game?. I read although I believe in a tournament book that throwing away pocket pairs below 6's is a good idea but I personally think this is -Ev.I basically keep paying off the higher sets but I think I should be able to fold in SOME of these situations.
-
This got me to thinking...
-
So I went back into my recently purchased Hold em Manager that I picked up at the beginning of last month. From that point as I have not tried to transfer my previous poker tracker stats to this new database. So all hand history is new hand history. I went back and set my filter and picked out pocket pairs and then found my losses and counted my pocket pairs where through the re player i could see I was set under set situation. In just the hand history's where I saw the showdown since the beginning of last month which is roughly 114,801 hands I have had 26 set over set situations where I have had the under set. And 12 set over set situations where I have the over set. So I am running 2-1 roughly Is this not normal?????? This means that once every 4,415 hands I run into this situation where I am the underdog. I am not saying that every situation I should be able to fold set over set.
-
I am just asking if others are able to fold or do they just not think about it and shove. As there are certain situations that I find I get that sensation. A player takes a line that reflects a possible set.
-
For the amount of set under set situations that occurred to me within the last 5 weeks. If I lost my whole stack in each situation at the current level my losses (not that they could have been prevented) Could have boosted my winnings %77! This is a massive number. This of course would be if each situation was for full stacks. It would take some time to go back and actually add up the occurrences in bb amount.
-
Still was just looking at a large hole in my numbers and thought this could be addressed. I know there is no way to eliminate these situations. But even if I could correctly identify and get away from %25 of these situations it might be help full. Even though every ones thoughts of the times I fold when I am indeed ahead. Would probably dwarf, and reduce my profit by more than it would. Had I simply called and or gotten my money in is correct.

-
Wow... I guess looking back at the week from start to finish things were not that bad. But when the month started on Tuesday. This weeks numbers include the last two days of last month the 29th, and 30th. I began a series of retarded beats, suck outs and runner runners. I figured this would be coming soon as near the end of last month. I seemed to be riding shotgun in the steamroller. Not that I was not losing hands and pots previously. But the winners were dwarfing the losers.
-
Anyway somewhere around the 7500 hand range on Tuesday. I ran into a little 23,000 break even stretch. Speaking of which 23,000 hands in three days! This second monitor I picked up is the SHIT!. Now that it has been a week I am pretty comfortable playing 18 tables. Even more so, since I figured out the scroll button on my mouse actually controls bet sizing. Once you tap the bet bar to get it started. That alone cut my time occupied in a hand down by at least half I think.
-
I think some of the problems with my break even stretch which basically had me loosing 10 buy in's then winning them back. I think was mainly because I have been trying to push my stats to more resemble 6 max. The coaches keep saying a good 6 max player will do well in full ring. But I think at this level of play. The amount of people calling you with any two cards plus the level one thinking of these .02-.05 micro stakes players. Leaves you with little room to two and three barrel with hands like AK and AQ with no draw. Maybe a good stat to have up on hold em manager is the percentage of folds to C-bets on the turn.
-
Anyways to adjust for this as I continued to miss everything under the sun was to simply stop raising as much. This and returned to a more passive nut peddling status. This instantly changed my direction and put me back into a solid but less frequent winning pattern. I was also starting to raise with pocket pairs 6's-8's in late position. And raising from any position with pocket pairs 9's and T's. I had also added some suited connector and suited over card trouble hands. This was to help push my pfr percentage way up. With the more frequency of raising despite I was still short of the stats provided to "help plug leaks in your game at 6-max". I believe my general table image was starting to get a little reckless.
-
Also the amount of gay betting, donk betting, and inducing betting started to stand out the more hands I got in at this level. Here is so far what I think of them.
-
1:Gay betting or Donk betting
-
Here this mainly applies when in position although it shows up out of position or oop. At some point is it more noticeable when a player limps and you raise in position and he calls. You have raise with a hand like AK, or AQ or KQs and you totally miss the flop. Say a flop like 3 5 9 rainbow. Basically he leads into you for a small bet something even as small as 2-3 bb's. Depending on how you react to this will depend on how the rest of the streets go down. A lot of the time I have caught myself when not paying attention folding or calling this bet. I guess neither are wrong as calling is usually fairly close to pricing you in on a 6-1 draw for having two over cards with the thinking you will get a little implied odds on a later street. Folding is OK but a gay better paying attention will easily take advantage of this. Most of these micro stakes players as well as a lot of players are not playing a large number of tables so they are paying closer attention then compared to a big multi-Taber ex me.
-
The problem with calling is at that point the gay better puts you on exactly big cards. Hands like previously mentioned AK, AK, KQ and depending on your aggressiveness KJ, QJ, even. This allows him to take control of the action on further streets. On the turn he can more easily bet big if a scare card doesn't hit and take the pot away from you. The player could be doing this with any two cards that hit the board or a pocket pair or any two cards just basically outplaying you.
Counters to this bet. I have found that raising the gay bet on the flop roughly pot size takes away there gusto. As this is how I might play a large pocket pair. Whether or not this gay bet was as mentioned above or a blocking bet to a draw. I would generally raise the piss out of them to charge them. And to get them to fold so they don't draw out on me. The downfall to this move is how often you are doing this. I am not sure of the percentage of people who have tracking software at this level. But if you do this every time whether or not you do have a large pocket pair, set, over cards, two pair or whatever they will definitely start playing back at you.
-
2: Induce betting
-
This one is used by a player that bets usually a little more than a gay or donk bet. But not enough to seem like a full on bet for value and or protection. This is usually a bet by a player that has flopped a set or two pair and is hoping. If you are an aggressive player for a raise so he can re pop you with another raise. I haven't seen to many of this at nl10 so far. Though I will point out the amount of times people bet out with the nuts a lot of the time. I have found it really makes no difference other than slow playing will be the death of you unless you cripple the deck. Like flopping quads or flopping a straight flush. That betting for value at these lower levels is essential. Obviously you can tweak this for more value but more tweakage leads to being sucked out on more.

More Blaahhhh!!!!!!

%^$%^#$&^&(*@

I was getting a little tired of having my aces all in pre-flop against kings and losing %75 of the time so I thought I would get a little revenge and found a couple spots where I knew I was up against aces with my kings. But couldn't manage to crack aces with my kings???? Anyways I managed to turn off the doom switch a little bit after dealing at Ken's Friday night to keep the plane from nosediving at terminal velocity into the Indy 500 parking lot. Anyways here is some interesting hands

My hand 8 ,8
two limper's, I limp from mid a late position min raises all limper's call

6 8 5 rainbow a limper min bets I raise the pot the late min raiser calls

6 8 5 (J) I bet 24 bb's and the late position min raiser calls

6 8 5 J (6) gives me a boat I lead out 40 bb's 2/3 of the pot other players only has 15 bb's more he shoves I have to call 15 bb's to see 168 bb pot. I call he shows pocket jacks

-

My hand 8s, 9s
I limp early one other limper a mid position player raises 5x bb I call oop and one other player calls
4 J T Myself and other limp caller checks to raiser who bets giving me 3-1 odds with a player left behind. I call and the other limper folds

4 J T (Q) giving me the straight. I don't put my opponent on K9 and don't know if he would C-bet with AK I pick betting into him 2/3 of the pot I did this hoping to define my hand betting once the third to the straight hit the board. He flat calls indicating that he didn't have AK I would think.

4 J T Q (K) I didn't like this card one bit and don't know if my bet indicated. I didn't want to not bet for value even though at this point there is not much I could beat. Pocket aces got there as well as any ace. I bet 1/3 of the pot and he flat shoves I fold.

-

My hand AQo

A super fishy lag raises from utg I flat call

A 7 8 He leads out and I raise him a heavy pot I get another caller and he calls giving him 2.2-1 odds

A 7 8 (T) He just flat shoves for 30 bb's he is running 70/10 so I call and he flips over ATo for two pair and it holds.

-

My hand AKo

pot has a few limper's I raise 6xbb on the button with AKo I get on caller

K 9 2 rainbow he checks and I bet 3/4 pot and he min raises me. This is a general line for a set but at this level a lot of players like to raise with top pair so I call the raise.

K 9 2 (8) He checks here? I don't know if he was worried about my call or was going to put it in over the top for another check raise. Since I am worried about a set I check behind as well to control the pot size.

K 9 2 8 (6) At this point he flat shoves. I have to put him on a set or something stupid like KQ or KJ thinking I didn't hit the K and have something like QQ maybe. He shoves for a little over 100 bb's. I don't think he would push that big of a stack in without a set so I fold.

-

My hand 76o in the bb

it is limped around sb completes I check

5 8 9 basically sb bets out I raise he re raises I re raise he shoves I call with the nuts he shows 85 and rivers a boat when another 5 hits

-

My hand 22

The pot is limped in 4 way

Th 9d 2h

UTg limper leads out the pot. I three bet him two others fold and he min raises me. On top of this he typed out in the chat box "sure". This should have immediately screamed a monster hand. No body talks about there hand in the chat box unless its the fucking nuts!. At this point I should have slowed down. Obviously I think I am ahead of someone who could take this line with two pair 9T could be in this players range here. So I go ahead and min raise mostly on accident. I am not happy with someone who could easily call here with say QhJh and be giving them super odds. He again min raises me and at this point I think I should have mucked my set. After all this raising I could see my raise indicating I was telling him I had top pair. His raise should have indicated at least two pair. My re raise should have indicated I had a set his additional min raise should have screamed a set. And considering I had bottom set there wasn't one I could beat. What actually happened was I only had 40 bb's over his third min raise that I just shoved to get it in while I thought I was ahead. He showed pocket Tens for top set.

-

My hand 55

A super Lagtard opens under the gun for 9 bb's his stack is roughly 8x that so I call on the button. He is running 100/72 over 18 hands.

4s2d5s Is the flop and he leads out 15 bb's. I am not to happy about the two spades but this guys stats us uber donkey. So rather than snap him off on the flop I hold out for the turn to raise him there to get a little more of his money in.

4s 2d 5s (9c) He flat shoves at this point for 56 bb's and I call with top set not putting him on A3 or 36. He shows A6 for a gutshot and its gets there on the river with a 3 :(

-

My hand AKo

Utg player raises 4 bb's I call on the button as well as the blinds. At this point I have to put the player who is running at 38/6 on AK or QQ -AA

K 8 6 Is the flop utg leads out and I 3-bet him the sb calls he has K5? and the bb calls with J8? It gets back to the utg raiser and he re raises. I muck turn and river is J J and the J8 takes it with a boat over the utg raiser who has pocket 6's.

-

There are so many hands this week that I am just going to give up writing about all the stupid hands where people got lucky. Anyway considering how bad I have been running this week I decided to tweak my strategy a little. Verses bringing in a lot of hands with raises. I decided to stop raising with AK, AQo. Also I had begun raising with pocket pairs regardless of position with pocket 9's and 10's. And also was raising pocket pairs 7's and 8's in later position. These were causing me a lot of grief as well as no one ever folds. I would get called out of position. Over cards would hit and I would get check called down to the river every time. And if ever I gave up or checked a street the player or players would fire off some nasty big bet on the river. Perhaps I was just getting floated a lot but every time I called they would have some completely stupid like K2o and hit there king on the flop and wouldn't fold. So much of the time I am getting called by super inferior hands and I am missing the flops turns and river and no one at this low level is folding once they hit the flop. This is costing me considerable and has shaken my confidence a lot. Also not to mention beat after beat.

At some points I just turn off the monitor and stop for the day after unspeakableness. Today was exploding with retarded re raises and the two outers came on the river every time. Flopping boats? Might as well just fold. My final hand of today I just gave up on was a set over set hand when I actually had the higher set

my hand 9s9h

opponents hand 7s7c

flop 7d 9c 4c all the money goes in turn and river are clubs and his seven of clubs takes it with a 7 high flush.

Blaahhhhhhhhh!

Just couldn't seem to break the voodoo that was chained around my ankle today. Managed to get in a little over 6,000 hands and was a roller coaster ride. I played two sessions the first was only for an hour. And was most of my loosing's for today. Until my wife had our ultrasound appointment rescheduled for today. Was interesting watching the ultrasound on the screen. I really couldn't tell much of what was going on other than seeing the head, arms and legs. We got the thing on dvd kinda different. Though the doctor said he thought we were having a boy. Hopefully this is the way it works. He seemed pretty confident but he also said it wasn't %100 positive of the results. Anyway the later session was a break even with the same amount of crapola. Every time I had been playing smart and making all the right choices. The "Doomswitch" would get turned on and knock down all my pins. I think from now on I will be updating my blog with hand reviews mostly along with weekly reviews as well.
-
Todays hands
-
pot was limped in six way I was on the button with 22
flop is Qc3c2
There is a min bet two callers and a raise. I reraise three folds and the raiser shoves. I call and his Q3 hits his 4 outer on the river when another Q hits. Giving him a higher boat.
I have AQo from utg +1 there is one limper I raise 6xbb.
everyone folds but this player who calls oop with Q6o
flop comes Q85 rainbow he donk bets into me
I three bet him he shoves I see his stats are 77/23 I call
he picks up a 6 on the turn and then proceeds to talk shit to me.
-
I have 44 in the bb
a player in mid position with 70bb's makes is 4xbb to go I call
flop comes 483 rainbow I have middle set I bet 10 bb's raiser calls
4 8 3 (A) on turn I bet 15 bb's raiser calls. At this point I am putting the raiser on an overpair trying to control the size of the pot.
4, 8, 3, A, (9) on the river I bet 31 bb's and this player shoves for 11bb's more I call and he shows pocket 8's for trip 8's
-
the pot is limped in 4 way I have position w/ KJ
flop comes 9T9 giving me a gutshot and is checked to me I check to see the free card
9 T 9 (Q) The turn gives me a straight but the board is paired. And is checked around a player min bets and I raise. The sb min raises me the min better calls and I call. I didn't really like this min raise here as it shows a lot of strength but it happened on the turn when I hit my straight.
9 T 9 Q (J) On the river and he leads out for 43 bb's at this point I think with the way this hand went I could and should have folded here. Anyone usually raising you on a paired board has a minimum of trips if he is not a donkey. Anyways I call and he show 9T for flopped boat.
-
utg and utg +1 limp I am in mid position with pocket T's and I raise to think the field
The button calls and so does utg and utg+1 the flop comes
9 T Q rainbow utg limps utg +1 limps I fire out 3/4 pot sized bet the button call and utg flat shoves. At this point I should have really been worried about KJ as it is a definite hand any of the three other players in the pot could have. But alas I was multi tabling and not thinking and snap called as did the button. The turn and river didn't matter as the utg had pocket Q's for top set and the button had pocket 9's for bottom set. I didn't have many hands on the utg but looking now seemed to be pretty passive. I guess I could have folded but could have just as well been up against QT or T9. But I have found that after a raise a flat shove for 175ish bb's usually means the nuts!
-
Then I had my aces all in preflop to Kings. There was a raiser I re raised he re re raised and I shoved he insta called and I knew he had kings. Flop was KQJ and I knew I was instantly loosing. No ten for me for the outdraw. I went back and found that for some reason all in preflop I am loosing with pocket aces vs Kings seven out of ten times?
-
I get involved in a three way raised pot with pocket 4's I have relative position
5cTc4h
the raiser bets the button calls and I pot raise the two players the raiser folds and the button calls
5ctc4h (8h) on the turn and the button donk bets into me again. Again I 4bet him or pot size raise him he calls again.
5c Tc 4h 8h (Qh) putting a back door flush out there. He again donk bets into me. At this point I should have just called but who in the fuck is going to stay around for a backdoor flush draw when I am raising him the fucking pot every street. Needless to say I reraise him putting him all in and he calls showing 7hTh for a ten high flush.

Sept Review

Well $411 ish dollars and somewhere around 90,000 hands later and the month of September run is over. I accomplished a lot this month. And as a result feel pretty good about everything. I made my $875 mark I was hoping to hit even though I had not planned on getting there till sometime in the middle of next month. Even though I have now reached my goal for bankroll management I set. I think now after getting ready to move to .05-.10. I am once again going to change my bankroll requirements. I think my new change will just be moving my required buy in amount to 100 full buy In's. And if at any time I drop down to 75 full buy In's I will move back down to the previous level until I make it to 100 buy In's again. This should change my bankroll requirements to something more like this. Which means I should be ready to move to .05-.10 by the end of next week the way things are going.
.05-.10
$10 buy in: 100 buy In's= $1,000
2.5/100: over 100,000 = $250
bankroll after 100k hands = $1250
.10-.25
$25 buy in: 100 buy In's=$2500
2.5/100: over 100,000 = $625
bankroll after 100k hands = $3125
.25-.50
$50 buy in: 100 buy In's= $5000
2.5/100: over 100,000 = $1250
bankroll after 100k hands = $6250
.50-1
$100 buy in: 100 buy In's= $10,000
2.5/100: over 100,000 = $$2500
bankroll after 100k hands = $12,500
Overall.
I cashed in on my first cash back bonus. I busted out a shitload of hands. I was running at least triple the amount of bb/100 I was supposed to, to be winning at this level. And I picked up a second monitor. I purchased Hold em Manager (big ++++) I feel through the month I was able to bring in more hands with raises and push my aggression factor up. I didn't get stuck in tilt mode much this month from what I remember. I still made a few errors and look forward to pushing them out of my system more and more.
Even though I am probably still costing myself money by not moving up. I need to start and stick with a bankroll plan. And now is as good a time as any. Besides who knows being deep stacked for me might be more lucrative than playing only 100 bb's deep. I might find it better to move back down to .02-.05. Even though for me to feel success full I would really want 100k hands at .05-.10. Just to have record that I am beating that level and didn't just skip it. I feel its probably important to play each level so I do not miss something. Whether its the game changing or just the experience itself playing more and more hands.

Sept week 4 review

23,000 hands/ $186 profit/ 869 FPP's/ 16/100
Monthly avg. 8/100 over 90,100 hands

This week was a pretty good week. Managed to burn out a couple of 600-800 big blind sessions. Was able to reach my first cash back bonus and then hit the required amount to cash it in. I did however break rank for one session on Saturday where I moved to .10-.25. I did this as I still needed a little over 200 Fpp's to continue being silver star. The session went OK. I was up $50 early and then reached my 350 vpp's to cash in on my cash back. I still hadn't reached the amount needed to retain my silver star status. So I continued playing and proceeded to lose $25 for the session. I hit my mark though and was still including my cash back bonus up $25. Even though had I quit while being ahead $50 I would be even farther ahead now. And probably would have still cleared my silver star status within the next two days. This is where the big spike in the graph came from near the end of the session.

This week had some pretty good wins despite a lot of big losing hands where I got stacked. I am still trying to increase the aggression. This in turn increases the variance a little more as I feel I am confronted with more and more tougher decisions. Where people are probably getting tired of me raising and re raising them every time I am in the hand. I am still looking to pick up more raising to try and hit the preferred numbers. But basically I would have to be raising any pocket pair any two face cards and any two suited connectors. Also a lot of these numbers I have been trying to bring my game to match is more for 6-max. So obviously I am a little off kilter here. But regardless I think it will help my game a lot in the long run.

Also a big thing this week was for me picking up a second monitor. This is already cutting down on the amount of errors I was having trying to play 15 games on one screen. Also this will increase my winnings by being able to play more tables. I was only able to play 4 sessions since picking up my new monitor on Friday. But it almost forces me to be a little more solid. By playing another three to six games it causes me to play a little more solid leaving less chances for me to play marginal hands without solid implied odds. Also the amount of hands I have should jump another 10,000 per week and should easily put me over 100,000 a month. What does this mean? Hopefully more hands leading to more profit leading to variance working itself out faster. Anyways this in turn leads to me playing more tables than 18. I think I will be sticking it out with 18 for a while until I am more comfortable. Or until I try out the auto hot key software people are using on 2+2 forums. This should cut down on time it takes for me to scroll or tap the scroll to reach the desired bet amount. Verses a button programed to preset amounts such as 1/2, pot 3/4, pot, or all in by the touch of one button. I am just a little leery about downloading another program onto my computer that could mess something up. "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

I didn't reach my $875 bankroll mark this month. Unless I catch two $25 plus winning sessions in the next two day of month before it ends. I did take one shot at .05-.10 and will have to be a little cautious at first. As it is a different jump only having 100 bb's in the stack verses 200. I have almost been tempted to remain at .02-.05 until I have 100 full buy-in's. But I think as of this point in this month even having one week being break even. I am destroying this level at 8/100 over 90k hands. And I am probably just costing myself money not having moved up already. But the winning is consistent and the variance seems less having a deeper stack. Unless I have a couple big losing sessions which is totally possible considering my results so far I should be able to move up sometime next week. I am not sure how much I will allow myself to lose before I drop back down. Was almost thinking of waiting like I said to 100 buy-in's and then drop back down when I reach 75 full buy-in's. But we will see. Also what will be interesting is how the fpp amount will change to being a few cents higher. Don't know if I will make another cash back bonus or not this next month or not. But if I do well at .05-.10 maybe I will.

Rocking the Dual 22"s

OH YEAH!
Finally broke down and took the compooter to visit two geeks computers Friday night after having them guarantee that I would have my computer back the next day Saturday.
I was under the impression that I was going to have to have them install another video card. And would have to have the computer for a day or two to install. Finally after several phone calls they assured me I could have it back the next day. So upon arriving the tech informed me that I already had the video card i needed. I am not to puter savvy mind you. I had at the time purchased the super duper gaming computer which has already had what I needed installed. I felt pretty silly and then out of silliness I binged and bought a second monitor. I am glad I got this setup, playing 18+ tables has never been easier. I was experiencing a small amount of error playing 15 games on my one screen. Now the only problem I have experienced it the occasional time out where my time runs out on a screen while playing.
The big advantage is just the larger number of hands I will be seeing. I managed one three hour session today. But was having problems as the tables kept breaking and scattering. So through out the session I wasn't completely running 18 tables. Probably only like %95 of the time. I did manage to run down a rough 3,200 hands. This translates to upping my hands per week by an extra 10,000. Or another 40,000 hands a month.
Friday night instead of playing I went over and dealt at Ken's cash game for a couple hours. Was cool getting to be back at Ken's game. Seeing familiar faces and new ones. Also just getting to see the same old play but having since gotten to take a break from it. Allowing me to see everything in a different shade of light. I know when I return to play there or play live my game will have evolved quite a bit after playing so many hands this time around. The donkeys won't know what hit them.

mid week sept

FUCK THE BOOK!

Picked up on a little bit of a heat so far this week. Even despite running into set over set situations. At least two times each session. I will have to put on record that for only the THIRD TIME! in two months I had a set over set situation. Where I had the higher set and it held!!!. So I think I am running somewhere in the vicinity of three for 20 in the last two months or something stupid like that. Running up a quick $94 in the first three days has been a relief after last weeks long break even grind. Although I am expecting a serious cooler in the up coming days to level me out near the end of the week. On Tuesday I set my second highest win in the terms of bb/100. And with this new software is the biggest recorded at 800 bb's over 2,200 hand session.

It doesn't look like I will retain my silver star status or clear my first cash back bonus that I initiated this last Tuesday. Unless I jump ranks and play at a higher level for a session. I might take another shot at .10-.25 this weekend, if I don't reach silver star status. Although I have already cleared %26 of my cash back bonus in the last two day. This is just probably due to the big wins I have been booking.

I figure things will turn south a bit so I will need to brace for a couple multiple runner runner, set over set, (breaking my 3 in a session record), two outer extravaganza.

Sept week 3 review

19,600 hands/ $0 profit/ 496 FPP's/ 0/100
Monthly to date/ 7/100 over 55,100 hands
Well fuck me in the Goat Ass!. This week was pretty lame. Every hand I was in I got raped. Whenever the money was in when I was ahead I seemed destined to lose. Or at best get counterfeited for a chop. Still have not managed to break my three set over set situations yet per session. Even though I tied it two times this week. My aces couldn't seem, all in pre-flop to beat any of the following hands K6o, JTo, TT, QT in just the last session alone. The rest of my sessions this week seemed to follow suit. Although this week was break even. I am still killing this level or the 55,100 hands I've put in so far. And that makes it easier to step back and see that I am running way above average. To the point that I should expect a week like this or even a loss for the week. Which was pretty close to happening here. I could probably still break even for the next week or two weeks and be ahead of the game. This isn't something I look forward to. But my success so far has been way above the norm. And just waiting for a visit from variance to make an appearance. And I think I am starting to catch a glimpse.
I tried 15 tabling for the first part of this week. Found that the screens just overlap a little to much. Which actually caused me some small profit but nothing major. I don't see 15 or more tables a problem but I think I will stick with 12 until I purchase another 22" monitor. This way I can play two screens of nine tables. This should allow for full view of each table. The downfall to this is I will have to drop off my computer at 2 Geeks for a day or two. To allow them to install something to be able to hook up both screens to. I might be able to get the "Go to guy" to do this for me. He is very knowledgeable in this area. But I haven't been able to corner him yet so we will see.
I also had some Internet connection problems this week. This actually is an easy way to cause me to get tilted. Especially when in the middle of an important hand or seven!
It looks like I will be able to take advantage of my first cash bonus this month. As I should break the 5,000 FPP's needed. And I am roughly averaging 400 fpp's + a week. So by the end of the week I should hit my first bonus. After this week I think I am going to need this. As there is definitely no way I am making the $875 mark I need to start playing .05-.10. I might break rank one night this next week maybe after picking up the bonus. And jump up to .10-.25 level. I know this is bad but just enough to secure my silver star status for next month if it comes to that. At least that way the fpp's will still be coming a little faster as I will be starting off fresh for a new cash back bonus.
As far as play goes. I need to tighten up a little more when it comes to big pots. I think I will still try to refrain from bluffing a lot. I pull off a bluff or two every now and then. But the majority of the time it backfires and costs me money. I am doing a little better on raising more. I still need to turn up the heat still more. I noticed at least towards the end of the week that people were trying to steal the button like crazy. Even when not first to bring it in. Almost every time the button raisers cards were shown. It ended up being like 95o or some other garbage. By Sunday this was almost getting to the point of constant three betting from me in the small blind. I also tried something different this week. Which shouldn't have been that big of a result change. Instead of 3/4 pot + betting on every street. I bet 3/4 on flop then just a few bb's more on turn then just a few more on the river. I noticed I was getting called down by a lot weaker hands and was getting more money by the river. And when I was beat by controlling the bets on the turn and river I lost less. Before with my bigger bets the weaker hands were folding on the turn and pretty much only the hands that were beating me or drawing to beat me were left. And with the bigger bets on the turn and river. When the traps were sprung sometimes the bet that was left to call was less than 20 bb's. I think this was a step in the right direction even though now I cannot get frustrated over when the draws hit as much. As usually I am pricing them in.
On to next week:
More raising, more three betting, less calling a three bet and more four betting pre-flop. I need to tighten up more on the river to big all-In's. More aggression, less calling more raising post-flop.

Sept week two review

12,500 hands/ $123 profit/ 434 FPP's/ 19/100
Monthly avg. 10/100 over 35,500 Hands

I had a short week this week as far as how many hands I got in. But regardless of playing half the amount of hands that I played last week. My profit was almost doubled. I struggled during my first day or two and then stormed back near the end of the week and then into the weekend.

I took another look at my stats which are still way to fishy. I am still playing way to many hands that I am not bringing in with a raise. Or re raising a raiser in position to get the pot heads up. And or take initiative during the hand. Also I am still calling to much post flop. Not raising or re raising enough to charge my opponents there draws. And or getting my opponents to fold weaker hands that still could draw out. Also just playing to many hands in general that I am limping in with.

This last week I took AKo and AQo off the raising standard for being under the gun. Also not calling a raise out of the blinds with AQo. Considering the amount of times that these hands miss the flop and cost me money due to the bad players getting lucky. Having a pair that is ahead when I miss. And or the floater that has either picked up on my nitty playing style. Or just being super aggressive that could push me off the best hand.

I have been running fairly well this last week. This is putting a little distortion on my results. But as the ball is rolling I will not break into the .02-.05 level until sometime at least halfway through next month. Obviously this is not taken into account any major fluctuations. Also I probably won't be cashing in on my first cash back bonus that I was looking forward to. And unless I take a shot at .10-.25 or log in a solid week at .05-.10. I will most likely lose my Silver Star status. So I might jump bankroll management just to help keep stacking up the FPP's.

On another note most of my success during my sessions tended to happen during the first 1,000 hands or less. After this 1,000 hand mark. My profit seemed to run out of steam a little. I don't have sufficient results to prove that my cards were changing. Or by that point my ability to control my tilt was getting less and less. And would cause me to make poorer decisions that would reflect my winnings. If these results continue I might consider doing a 1,000 hand session. Followed by a break of doing something else then return for another 1,000 hand session. Just a thought....
And finally Sunday's session was the deal clincher putting me well over $100 profit for the week. I am basically destroying at 10/100 over some 35,000 hands. I can only hope next week or the cooler that should be coming up soon isn't any where near as drastic as this run. I did break the 400 bb win stop rule a little today. I was up 600 bb's and rather than stop I let my winnings drop 100 bb's until I pulled out.
Next week I will continue focusing on raising more to get my PR stat up a little more. As well as my 3-Bet and my aggression factor. Still trying to push more raises or bets rather than calling. This is still a major leak in my game. This at least today could have cost me a 100 bb's.
Onward and upward

Heater?

This is what a 60/100 heater over 1,000 hands looks like. It doesn't look like much unless you view it up against 40 or 50 thousand hand graph. I had to quit in only 1,000 hands to keep my rule of 400 big blind win stopping point. I should have quit a 100 or 200 hands earlier as I would have been up another 100 bb's. Everything seemed to be going my way other than one stupid hand.

I'm not really sure why whenever I try to trap someone in position heads up with aces they aways have a set or better after the flop???. It just baffles me. I don't know if I am not really ready to continue playing aces that way. That little voice in the back of my head when I am raised chimes in. "But there is no way he can put you on aces here your probably still ahead". Rather than common sense leading the way. This seems to put me on insta tilt as well for some reason. Its frustrating that I lose with aces heads up in position %90 of the time I try and trap someone. I need to just take one step forward towards the common sense direction versus the retard insta tilt way.

Anyways I am well over the 100,000 hand mark since I began multi tabling. And very close to the 80,000 mark at the .02-.05 level. I am well above killing this level. Even in despite of letting myself go on full on donkey Kong tilt a few times. I am probably costing myself by not moving up to .05.10. But I am going to stay on a little more at this level. At the very least until the Hold em Manager I picked up this last week has a full 100k hands stored in its database at this level. When I installed it I was able to find a small part of my database but it was very minimal. At this point it only has 38,000 hands logged in record at the .02-.05 level. But even at the rate I am running at by the time I reach 100,00. I still won't be at the $875 mark. I will probably be $100 short so I will most likely be grinding it out halfway into next month before I make the move up.
This of course isn't including in Tilt, Heaters, or other life obstacles that could speed up or slow down progress.

Sept week one review

22,000 Hands/ $55 profit/ 426 FPP's/ 5/100
Well this week looked to be going great until yesterday's sessions. I was at $75 profit for the week and was looking to make it a cool $100. My first session broke my newly previous rule of stopping when ahead. I hadn't made any set point yet but I think for now on it will be 400 bb's. Which would be $20 at this level. In my first session I was at 600 bb's going into the first 400 hands and decided I couldn't quit that early.....
Well anyways the rest of the session was a little extra brutal than normal. I lost an all in flopped straight vs two pair. I flopped two boats one I got drawn out on after the money went in and I lost with the other. I got set over set ted twice and folded two other sets when a possible straight and flush was on board. I finished the session $3 down which wasn't bad short of the big wins followed by a barely break even run.
The second session wasn't any better and proceeded to lose another $17. This was done with a lot of emphasis put on cold deck bad luck and low on gas.
I chose to take a break and play some live poker at a friends. I took second in the tournament with the help of a lot of bad play by some other players. Booked a $40 profit from the tournament and then lost $12 of it in the cash game afterwards. I got a couple big draws that I was priced in on. But from about Wednesday on this week I couldn't hit the side of a barn with a rocket launcher even being inside of the dam thing. Basically If you had a two outer. Chances were you were getting there before my open ended straight flush draw with over cards would every time.
Sunday was a little better though even at playing 12 tables. The cards seemed a little slow coming. C-Bet a lot less but got less respect from my bets in general. I think only %20 or less of my C-Bets worked today. I made one bad call based on curiosity that set me back a good 80 bb's. My brain still isn't adjusted right to these smaller stakes. I called down a shove on the flop with pocket jacks. The shove looked like one of those AK shoves the tourney players who don't play a lot of cash or the better cash game players do. I basically wanted to see as it fell into one of those type of lines. I was wrong. Also, I made one two many calls against a player which cost ed me a few extra bb's. I finished the one session I played today $6 up. Wish it could have been a little better. But it's better than loosing. At least my roll is still headed in the right direction overall. And thanks to bankroll management this is a lot easier to see. It also helped after encountering some frustration not jumping stakes and blowing a lot of hard work.
I think I am still playing a little two loose. I am not sure how much more successful I would be raising all my hands that I bring in. Or at least re raising for isolation. I am running very fishy in the area of 21/5. I could see raising or folding a little more but this would have to be done paying a lot more attention to position. Other than being worried about a little bigger variance by raising alot more hands is the only thing holding me back. It's hard to proceed raising more hands when I see how many times my C-Bet's fail with the AK, AQ and KQs. Still I see the other multi table players who are successful are running more around the area of 17/12 ish. I think this is a little better than the Lagtards that are running at like 30/25. I don't know which is better but I don't see those looser players around a lot. Maybe it's difficult with all the advice and coaching video's based off 6 max. People tend to get there game play a little out of wack. All though they still say the better full ring players will be good 6 max players. This is obviously something I will have to look into after running up a few more stakes. And are a winning player in general.
So weekly review I think I need to stop playing by limping in with the ace x suited's. The suited connectors and the suited on gappers. Also not brining in cards with raises like KQ suiteds and other hands rather than limping in. Obviously there will be a need to pull a little caution when my flop bets get called with top pair as I could easily be dominated.
Also a little more focus playing pocket pairs to a reraise. Paying more attention to the 20x rule from Harrington.
Still setting up my betting a little better to not lose so much money when I am beat. And keeping myself from becoming pot committed. I was previously betting a little less than pot to keep the draws from being priced in. Most people on draws don't fold at these stakes. And the times your beat your just putting in a lot of money that will make it harder for you to fold when they shove. I have noticed the better players really control there bet sizing alot more that keeps there losses down. This is something I need to streamline a little more.
Also this week I noticed for the first time I made some missclicks that probably costed me around a 100 bb's or more. This hasn't been a problem before until this last week. Most of the time it comes from when my screens are overlapped. A new screen becomes activated and I hit call or fold instead of.
